In Odisha, there are many students who want to continue studying after school, but they can’t because they don’t have enough money. To help these students, the Government of Odisha started called the ‘Kalinga Sikhya Sathi Yojana’.

Kalinga Sikhya Sathi Yojana: Odisha Government Education Loan Scheme

The “Kalinga Sikhya Sathi Yojana (KSSY)” is a program by the Department of Higher Education, Government of Odisha, to help poor students for Higher studies. It was started by the Chief Minister of Odisha, Shri Naveen Patnaik, on June 27, 2016.

The main aim of this program is to make it easier for parents to afford higher education for their children. Students can borrow up to a maximum of ₹10,00,000 as a loan for their education. They only need to pay 1% interest on the loan, and the rest of the interest will be paid by the Government of Odisha, Higher Education Department. This program covers all kinds of courses like medicine, engineering, law, and management.

If the loan amount is up to Rs 7.5 lakh, you’ll have 10 years to pay back the loan. If the loan amount is up to Rs 10 lakh, you’ll have 15 years to repay. Students can get these loans from certain banks listed in the Yojana.

Kalinga Sikhya Sathi Yojana Benefits:

The key benefits of this scheme is as follow:

• Maximum Loan Amount: As per the scheme’s rules, students can get up to ₹10,00,000 as an educational loan.
• Minimum Loan Amount: The scheme doesn’t specify a minimum loan amount. You can get any amount of loan up to ₹10,00,000.
• Loan Repayment Tenure: If your loan is up to ₹7,50,000, you’ll have up to 10 years to repay it. For loans up to ₹10,00,000, you’ll have up to 15 years.
• Interest Rate Apply: You only need to pay 1% interest on the loan. The rest of the interest is covered by the Government of Odisha, Higher Education Department.
• Normally, education loans have a Moratorium Period, which is the time you’re in school plus one more year. But with KSSY, they help cover interest during the repayment period, including the Moratorium Period. This is really helpful for students.

Remember: The specific terms and conditions of the loan will depend on the rules of the individual banks listed. The banks will process the loan applications following their own rules.

Kalinga Sikhya Sathi Yojana Eligibility Criteria:

If you wish to get benefits of Kalinga Sakhi Sathi Yojana, candidates must have to fulfill the eligibility criteria as given below:

• The student must have to be domicile/resident of Odisha.
• The family income of the student must not more than ₹6,00,000 each year.
• Students who don’t have much money and want to study more can ask for a loan with this plan.
• The student can’t get the same kind of help from another government or school.
• The student’s chosen course can be in Management, Integrated Law, Engineering, or Medicine at any recognized school in India made by Parliament or State Legislature.

Kalinga Sikhya Sathi Yojana Online Apply/ Registration:

For Online application one must have to register and after registration complete can apply online for the loan application. Please follow the steps provided as below:

Step 1. At First please visit the official website of Vidya Lakshmi portal: https://www.vidyalakshmi.co.in/

Step 2. The Homepage will appear and tap button on ‘Register’ on the Top Right Side Corner of the page

Step 3. After click on it please read all the instruction carefully and select the checkbox and click on ‘I Agree’ button

Step 4. On the next page please fill all the mandatory fields carefully. Before click on ‘Submit’ button verify your name, mobile number, email id and other details again.

After submit it successfully the registration will be done and the login credential will be displayed on screen and also send to your registered Mobile number and Email id.

Application Steps for Online:

Step 1. Please visit the official website of Vidya Lakshmi portal: https://www.vidyalakshmi.co.in/

Step 2. On the top right corner of the Homepage click on the ‘Student Login’ Button.

Step 3. Than Login with Credential received on Mobile Number or Email ID.

Step 4. On Next Page you have to click on ‘Apply for Scholarship’. This will be directed to the application form and fill all the related details as asked in form carefully. Upload all necessary documents in size and format as asked.

Step 5. On next Step click on ‘Submit’ button and reference ID will be shown for successful application submitted. Note down this id for future references.

Kalinga Sikhya Sathi Yojana Offline Application:

Step 1: Visit your nearest bank. Ask for the “Kalinga Sikhya Sathi Yojana” application form.

Step 2: Now fill out the application form as all the mandatory required details.

Step 3: After filling the form attach all the required (self-attested) documents with application form.

Step 4: Now submit this filled application form to the bank, and take a counter receipt of the same.
